- Coba means ‘waters stirred by wind’ , allusive to the two lagoons around it, The Coba Lagoon and the Macamxoc. Water inlets for the Mayans are always sacred and purifying.
- One of the connections to other archaeological sites -Yaxuna- is 62 miles long and is near Chichen Itza too.
- It is believed that the Coba settlement consisted on 50,000 inhabitants, being their peak around 600 AD and 900 AD.
